 Climax and Konami's Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is an action adventure,
 but it plays very differently from the previous installments. It is a
 retelling of the events of the original game, and it features more lenient
 and less combat-oriented gameplay.

   Dr. Kaufmann receives a new patient, who has many psychological issues to
 sort out. Just what exactly has happened to Harry at the town of Silent Hill?

Harry Mason
 The main protagonist. Harry has been married, and he has a daughter named
 Cheryl. His family enjoys spending vacations at Silent Hill, but there is
 something pretty funny about that place.

 The doctor who is analyzing Harry's adventure through Silent Hill.

[2.1] Chapter 1: Car Crash to First Nightmare
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enabling the UFO Challenge: After the game is finished at least once, when
 the game is being replayed with the same profile, United Fruitcake Outlet
 (UFO) signs will replace some billboards in the first chapter. To enable
 the UFO challenge, dial the UFO telephone number (555-3825) as soon as the
 mobile phone becomes available. Photograph all 13 flying saucers and then
 finish the game to get the UFO ending.

Memento: A Winter Beacon (Snow Globe) - At the diner or the bar.
 At the diner, along the wall behind the counter, below the microwave
 oven, open the cabinet. At the bar, on the wall near the front door,
 in the small alcove, open the cabinet.

Camera Ghost: Swing Seat - When revisiting the playground, photograph the
 ghost sitting on the swing seat.

UFO: Number 1 - When revisiting the alleyways behind the video shop or the
 dress shop, photograph the saucer floating near a lamppost. (This appears
 in both alleyway areas, so going through either shop doesn't matter.)
 To enable the UFO challenge, dial the UFO telephone number (555-3825)
 as soon as the mobile phone becomes available.

Haunted Object: TV Set or Red Dress - These two are mutually exclusive, due
 to their locations. When revisiting the video shop, at a corner, touch the
 large unmarked TV set. When revisiting the dress shop, at a corner, touch
 the red dress.

Tip: Icy Death Nightmare (Street Maze) - To reach the end point, Harry will
 eventually need to go through a swimming pool building, including some
 locker rooms and the empty pool.

[2.2] Chapter 2: Forest to Overlook

Memento: Hidden Fire (Cigarette Box) - Inside Cybil's police car, open the
 glove compartment.

Haunted Object: Cabin Telephone - Outside the ranger station (the first cabin
 just after the police car), near the front door, touch the public phone.

Memento: Frozen Waters (Marble) - To the south of the ranger station, at
 the base of the water tower, open the tool compartment. (The water tower
 is the unlabeled oval spot on the map.)

Haunted Object: Flower Wreath - To the southeast of the water tower,
 on a tree, touch the flower wreath.

UFO: Number 2 - At the forest's boat house, at the north room with the
 hammock and whiskey barrels, photograph the saucer floating above the
 hole in a corner of the ceiling.

Camera Ghost: Underground Grating - Near the bottom of the pump station's
 ladder, at the dead-end corridor, photograph the ghost grasping the bars
 of the underground grating. (To get into this dead-end corridor, hop over
 the pipes in the way.)

Haunted Object: Sleeping Bag - At the narrow trail area, between the
 boat house and the pump station's ladder, along the side of the trail,
 touch the bloody blue sleeping bag.

Memento: A Moveable Feast (Knife) - At the Orion Lodge's bedroom (with the
 bunk beds), on a wall, open the cabinet.

Memento: A Broken Ward (Broken Flashlight) - At the Orion Lodge's sofa room,
 open the small cabinet's drawer.

Camera Ghost: Lodge Sink - At the Orion Lodge's kitchen, photograph the
 ghost on the sink.

UFO: Number 3 - Outside along the Orion Lodge's northeast side, near the
 door to the lodge's bedroom, photograph the saucer sitting on a barrel.
 (Because UFOs disappear after Harry enters and then leaves their areas,
 he should photograph this saucer as soon as he comes out to this side of
 the lodge, before going back in there to search for any other things.)

Haunted Object: Deer Skull - Between the Orion Lodge and the X Shack, touch
 the deer skull hanging on a tree, along the west side of the small stream.
 (This tree is upstream from the bridge.)

Tip: Icy Death Nightmare (Forest Maze) - To reach the end point, Harry will
 need to go south and wind through the mill, cabins, and other buildings
 there. To avoid wandering off track in the open forest terrain, follow
 the bright lantern lights in the distance.

Haunted Object: Far West Cabin Scene - At the far west cabin, touch the
 icy figures. (This is associated with the bird puzzle.)

Puzzle: Bird Toy - Press the buttons in the following order:
 Duck, Owl, Parrot, Parrot, and Chicken. (Their sounds are
 Quack, Hoot, Squawk, Squawk, and Cluck.)

Memento: Pinned Beauty (Butterfly) - After the forest, at the overlook,
 open the red car's trunk.

Camera Ghost: Open Car Door - After the forest, at the overlook, photograph
 the ghost sitting by the red car's open front right door.

[2.3] Chapter 3: School to River Drawbridge

UFO: Number 4 - At the school's football field, photograph the saucer
 floating between the goal posts on the east side. (This can also be
 photographed just before the end of the previous chapter.)

Haunted Object: Warning Poster - After the football field but before the
 fast food restaurant, at the east side of Building A, on the wall near
 the bike stands, touch the warning poster.

Camera Ghost: Sofa with Wig - On the brothel's first floor, between the
 bar counter and the staircase, photograph the ghost sitting on the sofa
 with a wig.

Memento: Suffocated Forever (Amber Insect) - On the brothel's second floor,
 atop the cabinet, open the heart-shaped jewelry box.

UFO: Number 5 - At the rooftop path between the brothel and the fast food
 restaurant, photograph the saucer floating above a rooftop to the northeast.

Haunted Object: Unfinished Meal - At the fast food restaurant's dining area,
 near the front windows, on the cluttered table, touch the unfinished meal.

Haunted Object: Red Apron - At the fast food restaurant's kitchen, across
 from the foot of the staircase, touch the bloody red apron hanging on a
 wall hook.

Memento: My Plastic Perfect Girl (Girl Doll) - At the fast food restaurant's
 kitchen, open the refrigerator.

Haunted Object: Blue Car - At the school's east parking lot (with the
 nail-locked window), near a theater poster, touch the blue car.

Camera Ghost: Hanging Belt - At the school's equipment storeroom
 (lost property office), photograph the ghost by the belt hanging
 on a wall hook.

Memento: Heavenly Protection (Medallion) - At the school's equipment
 storeroom (lost property office), above a fire extinguisher that is
 lying on the floor, on a wall, open the gray maintenance cabinet.

Haunted Object: Photo on Bench - After the school's equipment storeroom
 (lost property office) but before the courtyard, at the long locker
 corridor, touch the small photo on a bench. (This is the same bench
 where the phantom kid initially sits.)

Haunted Object: Lunchbox - At the school's courtyard, to the south of the
 statue, touch the yellowish lunchbox on a table near some stairs.

UFO: Number 6 - At the school's courtyard, photograph the saucer floating
 above the statue.

Memento: A Frigid Jewel (Blue Ring) - At the school's biology lab, on the
 front left student desk, pull the scalpel in the frog.

Puzzle: Planetarium - Dial 555-2327.

Haunted Object: Paper Sheets - At the planetarium, on an upper back row seat,
 touch the paper sheets. (This cannot be found if Harry goes through the art
 studio.)

Puzzle: Art Studio - Dial 555-8465.

Memento: An Eternal Rose (Rose Paperweight) - After the planetarium or the
 art studio, at the short locker corridor (with the keypad), across from
 the foot of the staircase, open Locker 1037.

Haunted Object: Blue Prom Poster - After the planetarium or the art studio,
 at the short locker corridor (with the keypad), at the end of the hallway,
 touch the blue prom poster.

Puzzle: Short Locker Corridor - Enter the code 1031.

UFO: Number 7 - Before the gymnasium entrance, photograph the saucer stuck
 in a tree's branches. (Facing the gymnasium entrance, turn right to find
 this tree.)

Haunted Object: Red Balloon - Before the front of the gymnasium entrance,
 touch the red balloon tied to a bench.

Puzzle: Principal's Computer - Enter the answers to the back-up questions:
 - Zodiac sign - SCORPIO.
 - Ex-wife's name - VALERIE
 - Son's name - OTTO
 - Place of losing bachelorhood - HAWAII
 - True four-legged friend - NICKY
 - Shakespeare's comedy - TWELFTH NIGHT
 - Baseball team's name - SHINERS
 - King of sports - RACQUETBALL
 - Major - GEOLOGY

Tip: Icy Death Nightmare (School Maze) - To reach the end point, Harry will
 need to make a wide looping run to the north through Building C, to the west
 across the northwest parking lot (beside Building D), and then back south
 through Building D or the gymnasium.

Haunted Object: School Exit Corridor Scene - At the school's exit corridor,
 touch the icy figures. (This is associated with the photo puzzle.)

Puzzle: Photo Challenge - Photograph the ghosts at the three marked locations:
 - The "courtyard" photo - At the courtyard outside the end point's corridor,
 at the northwest corner, photograph the ghosts through the window.
 - The "parking lot" photo - At the northwest parking lot, on the high level
 at the north side, photograph the ghosts sitting in the car.
 - The "locker rooms" photo - At the wall of Building F, near the gymnasium,
 photograph the ghost through the opening in the wall.

Puzzle: Drawbridge Control Levers - Do the following according to the lights:
 - Red light - Move the left lever.
 - Blue light - Move the middle lever.
 - Yellow light - Move the right lever.
 - Green light - Don't touch anything, and wait for the next light.

Puzzle: Sinking Car - When the radio dial flashes brightly, turn it until
 the song becomes clear. Doing so will remove the icy barriers in the car,
 allowing Harry to open the doors and escape earlier.

[2.4] Chapter 4: Hospital to Apartment Building
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tip: Icy Death Nightmare (Hospital Maze) - To reach the end point, Harry will
 need to go through or around the buildings. Cut through Wards 3 and 4 and
 then the parking building, or work around along the east via the train yards.

Haunted Object: Emergency Room Scene - At the hospital's emergency room,
 touch the icy figures. (This is associated with the radio puzzle.)

Puzzle: Radio Set - Tune the radio set to 101.6, and then dial 555-8814.

Memento: Infinite Jest (Skull Ring) - At Lisa's apartment's bathroom,
 play the music box. (This can also be taken at the beginning of the
 next chapter.)

[2.5] Chapter 5: Mall to Pawn Shop
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Memento: Synthetic Femur (Toy Bone) - After first leaving Lisa's apartment
 but before returning there, at the warehouse's office room, near the door
 to the large storage area, open the copy machine.

UFO: Number 8 - At the second level exterior walkway with the locked mall
 doors, photograph the saucer to the north of the bridge railings.

Tip: Icy Death Nightmare (Mall Maze) - To reach the end point, Harry will
 need to weave wildly through the middle of the mall. If he reaches an
 exterior courtyard-like high area that has a flare, he should continue
 through the single doorway somewhere below the stairs (not above them),
 on the same level as the flare. Eventually, he will need to run up to
 a large rooftop area. From here, he should go through the Garage Access
 South or North doorways at the rooftop corners, climb down the stairs to
 the second floor walkway, and then open the middle door that leads to the
 end point.

Haunted Object: Candy Shop Scene - At the mall's candy shop, touch the
 icy figures. (This is associated with the gumball puzzle.)

Puzzle: Gumballs - Drop the gumballs in the following order:
 Purple, Pink, Red, and Yellow.

Haunted Object: Coffee Cup - At the mall's car display area, near the
 book shop, atop a garbage can, on the tray with some doughnuts, touch
 the coffee cup.

UFO: Number 9 - At the mall's pet shop, at the corner near the entrance door,
 photograph the saucer inside the upper fish tank.

Haunted Object: Dog Dish - At the mall's pet shop, at the back corner, near
 the fish tanks, touch the dog dish in the cage.

Memento: Memories Undeveloped (Film Roll) - At the mall's pet shop, on the
 shelves near the counter, open the hamster cage.

Memento: My Flying Lizard (Toy Dino) - At the toy shop, at a back corner,
 open the small safe. Turn the safe's lock slowly until a heavy click is
 heard (about when 70 is positioned at the top of the dial), and then pull
 the handle.

Haunted Object: Red Ball - At the mall's toucan statue area, near the
 lingerie shop, touch the red ball on the bench.

Puzzle: Gift Card Shop - Enter the code 2050.

Haunted Object: Gift Card Shop Keypad - At the gift card shop, touch
 the keypad. (This cannot be found if Harry goes through the salon.)

Puzzle: Salon - Enter the code 1789.

Haunted Object: Magazine Book - After the gift card shop or the salon, at
 the mall's security corridor, touch the magazine book on one of the greenish
 garbage cans. (This is on the garbage can that is farther away from Harry's
 point of entry.)

Haunted Object: Flash Memory Card Rack - At the mall's office supply shop,
 at the corner between the shelves of picture frames, touch the flash memory
 card rack.

Camera Ghost: Mall Bench - Before the front of the theater's entrance, in
 the taped-off area, next to a bloody spot on the floor, photograph the ghost
 sitting on the mall bench. (This is between the theater's entrance and the
 homeware shop.)

Memento: The Modern Prometheus (Frankenstein's Monster Figure) - At the
 mall's theater's lobby, play the crane game.

Camera Ghost: White Car - After the theater but before the pawn shop,
 photograph the ghost on the ground behind the white car.

UFO: Number 10 - At the pawn shop, photograph the saucer on a top shelf
 near the entrance door.

Memento: We, Ouroboros (Serpent Ring) - Before going up the stairs to the
 pawn shop's second floor, enter the booth, and open the small blue box.

Tip: Icy Death Nightmare (Pawn Shop "Nowhere" Maze) - Only the two looping
 maze areas here have enemies. In the first looping maze, find and open the
 doors that have an illuminated ceiling light hanging high up in front of
 them. (If they can't be found in the current room, just open another door
 and try again, until seeing these high lamps.) In the room with invisible
 walls, use the flashlight to see the outlines of the invisible walls against
 the floor. In the second looping maze, open the doors that have dirty ice
 forming around them. (This dirty ice grows thicker and more conspicuous with
 every successful passing.)

Memento: Poetry as Precise as Geometry (Fountain Pen) - Inside John's car,
 open the glove compartment.

Memento: A Happy Bond (Bracelet) - At the sewer's side path, at an open pipe
 along the wall, pull the hook in the fish.

UFO: Number 11 - At the sewer, to the right of the ladder that leads to the
 valve door, photograph the saucer floating behind the grating bars.

Memento: Memories Untaken (Camera) - After the manhole but before the
 souvenir shop, in front of the cigar shop (The Indian Runner), open
 the box in the wooden statue's arms.

Haunted Object: Road Map - After the manhole but before the souvenir shop,
 touch the road map on the red car's hood. (This is near an information board
 about Toluca Lake.)

Memento: A Beacon, a Key (Lighthouse Key Chain) - At the souvenir shop,
 slide open the jewelry counter's side panel, and then pull out the tray.

Memento: Your Diamond Heart (Diamond Ring) - After the souvenir shop but
 before Annie's Bar, at the west end of Sanford St., grab the telescope's
 red handle and point the telescope to the left toward the distant
 lighthouse, until the light shines brightly through the viewing lens
 and the yellow compartment opens.

 behind the cut-out stand of a knight and a princess.

Memento: Eve (Female Portrait) - At the amusement park, at the Arcade Jack Pot
 attraction, win at the slot machine by pulling the red handle three times.

Haunted Object: Swan Boat Scene - At the Tunnel of Love attraction, touch
 the icy figures in the middle swan boat. (This is associated with the
 swan boat puzzle.)

Puzzle: Swan Boat Area - After receiving the message, find and follow
 the phantom kid across three spots: from the side path leading to the
 barred exit, back up the ladder to the earlier upper walkway, and then
 to the swan boat in front of the couple's boat.

UFO: Number 12 - After the amusement park, at the docks, at the
 dead-end jetty, photograph the saucer stuck in the lamppost.

UFO: Number 13 - At the lighthouse shores but before the clinic, just off the

[4] Endings

 The ending consists of multiple parts that are determined by the choices
 made throughout the game. These parts can be combined in different ways
 to form a variety of endings. (For example, the "Wussy" component may be
 coupled with the "Always There" or the "Forget Me" component.)

 The objects upon which Harry views and comments may also have an influence.
 These objects sometimes come in mutually exclusive groups that are located
 near each other. For instance, in a room with multiple posters associated
 with different values, Harry will comment only on the first poster he views,
 ignoring the other nearby posters afterward.

 Use the variable details shown throughout the game to gauge the progress
 toward the ending components. Here are a few of the more prominent signs:

 Cybil's Appearance at Diner and at Police Car: (Chapter 1 and Chapter 2)
 - Greenish park ranger-style uniform - Default alert.
 - Black SWAT-style uniform - Either wussy alert or booze alert.
 - Blue classic uniform with new big boobs (HA HA HA) - Sex fiend alert.

 The clinic meeting component generally depends on the factor of
 attachment versus non-attachment, in respect to Cheryl.

Always There Ending (Attachment) - The meeting shows Harry being a really
 supportive sort of guy, no matter how much of a wiener he may be. For this
 ending, make decisions that reflect closeness with his daughter.

Forget Me Ending (Non-Attachment) - The meeting shows Harry realizing that
 he may not be a very good role model, but at least he has the guts to
 admit and accept that. For this ending, make decisions that reflect
 little closeness with his daughter.

 The clinic exterior component may or may not occur. It shows Mrs. Mason
 waiting outside the clinic.

[4.3] Part 3: Videotape
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 The videotape component may be thought of as representing one of the
 four different combinations of two factors: abstinence versus indulgence,
 and expressiveness versus non-expressiveness. This component is primarily
 determined by the answers to Dr. Kaufmann's questions during the first
 three chapters.

Default Ending (Abstinence and Expressiveness) - The videotape shows Harry
 departing from his old home some time before his car crash. For this ending,
 make decisions that reflect a mix of traits, this mix also including the
 positive healthy ones. This ending is the easiest to reach, because its
 conditions are very accommodating.

Wussy Ending (Abstinence and Non-Expressiveness) - The videotape shows Harry
 in a bad argument with Mrs. Mason. According to this game, nice uxorious
 guys finish last, and then they die. For this ending, make decisions that
 reflect pure abstinence, extreme self-control, strong commitment, and
 total asexuality. In other words, remain distanced from alcohol, sex,
 cheating, and any other naughty stuff.

Sex Fiend Ending (Indulgence and Expressiveness) - The videotape shows Harry
 revealing his wilder side. How he manages to do that and remain a reasonably
 loving father is amazing. For this ending, make decisions that reflect
 brazen sexuality and aversion to commitment, with the sex coming first
 before alcohol. In other words, push the sex factor to the maximum.
 (Yes to sluttiness, cheating, visiting the brothel, and ogling Lisa;
 no to virginity.)

Booze Ending (Indulgence and Non-Expressiveness) - The videotape shows Harry
 enjoying his favorite beverage. Deep down, though, we all know he's still
 a good guy. For this ending, make decisions that reflect alcoholism, the
 status of a sports-loving jock, and some commitment to family despite a
 dislike for marriage. This ending is perhaps the most difficult to reach,
 because its conditions can be ambiguously narrow. Being too expressive
 changes this to the Sex Fiend ending, while being too non-expressive changes
 this to the Wussy ending.
   Here is one way to reach this ending: In the first chapter, be intensely
 private and non-expressive, but be faithful to the partner. (A little
 abstract thinking, fanciful role-playing, or flexible organization is
 okay, but don't go overboard with all of them.) Go through the dress shop
 and open the middle coat in order to reach the bar. In the second chapter,
 be very private and non-expressive again, but give a preference for
 friends over family. View the whiskey barrels at the boat house's north
 room, near the hammock. In the third chapter, be a jock (this is important),
 a slut, a bully, and a slacker, but not a virgin. Give priority to football
 and basketball. In the fourth chapter, perceive all the persons as being
 dead. Don't peep at Lisa and just go stare at the walls (this is important).
 In the fifth chapter, go through the salon. (The theater's film should
 be Good Poison.) In the sixth chapter, doubt that marriage can last,
 but believe in staying together for the sake of the children (this is
 important). Believe that marrying young is a bad idea, and believe that
 sex becomes stale after marriage. In the seventh chapter, perceive at least
 some of the images as being sexual.

UFO Ending (Secret Bonus Ending) - The UFO ending replaces the first three
 components with a slideshow-like movie with outrageous imagery and dialogue,
 continuing the series' running joke with space aliens. The person behind
 the UFO challenge appears, tying in with one of the earlier installments
 in the series.
   To reach this ending, after finishing the game at least once, when
 replaying the game with the same profile, dial 555-3825 as soon as the
 mobile phone becomes available, and then photograph all 13 flying saucers.
 The remaining ending components will still occur afterward as usual, though.
