[1] Overview
==============================================================================

 K.2.C. and Bandai's R?MJ: The Mystery Hospital (a.k.a. MJ) is a
graphic adventure that features a real-time infection element where
the hero will die if he remains too long in contaminated areas.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.0] Game Version Differences
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 - The Saturn version comes on 1 disc, and the PS version comes on 2 discs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.1] Story
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A simple visit to the hospital soon turns into a nightmare when a sudden
explosion and the outbreak of deadly viruses and bacteria cause the entire
building to be automatically quarantined, trapping Hajime and his friends.
Joined by a nurse who has been with them at the time, they must now find a
way to escape before they get turned into butt sauce.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.2] Characters
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Hajime
Age: 18 yr
Height: 179 cm
Weight: 68 kg
Note:
The main protagonist. Hajime is the quiet but observant type. Along with
Tomowo, he has come to the hospital after learning of Ryo's accident.
The word, "Kenfo," can be seen on Hajime's shirt.

Name: Ryo (Ryou)
Age: 18 yr
Height: 185 cm
Weight: 75 kg
Note:
A friend of Hajime. Ryo is the kind of guy who seems to have seen the whole
world, being a strong and fearless man who stays cool even when things are
going really bad. He rides a mean bike, and he likes to flip his lucky coin.
His motorcycle crash hasn't been too serious, fortunately, because he appears
to be fine by the time his pals arrive to see him.

Name: Tomowo
Age: 18 yr
Height: 168 cm
Weight: 60 kg
Note:
Another friend of Hajime. Tomowo isn't quite as brave and easily breaks
into a panic. He also likes to skateboard.

Name: Aya
Age: 21 yr
Height: 167 cm
Weight: 45 kg
Note:
A young nurse who is trapped along with Hajime and the others. Aya has
joined the hospital staff only recently and knows absolutely nothing about
the strange viruses that have broken out at the place. (The real-life Aya
 is a model.)

Name: Misato
Note:
A pretty yet rather hot-headed girl who eventually joins Hajime's party.
Misato is another patient at the hospital.

Name: Dr. Tenma
Note:
The director of S.T. Hospital (STMGH).

Name: Robert
Note:
 Dr. Tenma's assistant.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1.5] General Tips
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 - Important events must occur before more progress can be made at some areas.

 - Most events can be triggered by facing or manually checking an object,
while others can be triggered by sensing an object.

 - Never stay at areas with a viral concentration of 5 or more million units.

 - If it's Game Over, the game will return to the beginning.

==============================================================================
[2] Strategies
==============================================================================

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.1] Chapter 1: Reaching the Main Elevator
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lobby:

Running to the lobby, the group discovers the main doors have been locked
 by emergency shutters.

If Hajime uses the phones at the reception desk and near the closed shop,
he will find there is no signal. So much for calling the outside for help.

Obtain the Newspaper from the newspaper stand, through the shop's shutter.

To complete this Chapter, check or sense the main elevator while facing it.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.2] Chapter 2: Splitting Up
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The group will split up into two pairs: Ryo and Tomowo, and Aya and Hajime.
The areas where the pairs are assigned to investigate depend on the outcome
 of Ryo's coin toss.

Version A: Investigate the Second Floor

Use the main elevator to reach the second floor. On the second floor, Hajime
can look over one side of the balcony to see someone (or something) walking
below on the first floor. Creepy. Go to the wrecked hallway, and enter the
 director's office room.

Inside the director's office room, obtain the Copy of the Azumo Legend from
the desk. Check the small statue near one wall to obtain the Director's Key.
Also check the painting on another wall. Check the desk while facing it, and
Misato will appear and join the group. (Aya recognizes her.)

Return to the main elevator. Another explosion will occur in the wrecked
corridor, but the heroes will be fine. (However, Hajime should not return
to the wrecked corridor and check the broken door, or else there may be
one more explosion, which will knock down the door, killing him.) Return
 to the first floor.

To complete this Chapter, check or sense the main elevator while facing it.
Hajime will obtain the Flashlight from Ryo.

Version B: Investigate the First Floor

On the first floor, go through the partially open emergency shutter
(propped open by a gurney) to enter a dark hallway, and then enter
the security room to the left just after this shutter.

Inside the security room, check the lockers to obtain the Flashlight.
Check the monitors, choose the security option, and then choose the
second floor cameras to see Ryo and Tomowo. Now return to the main elevator.

To complete this Chapter, check or sense the main elevator while facing it.
Hajime will obtain the Copy of the Azumo Legend and the Director's Key from
 Ryo.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.3] Chapter 3: Finding Tomowo
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Misato has joined the party, but the heroes still need to find a way out.
If he hasn't yet, Hajime should read the Copy of the Azumo Legend to learn
 about Azumo.

Security Room:

Go to the security room, via the dark hallway. Use the Director's Key
while facing the lockers to obtain the V/L Checker. Check the porno
magazines to obtain the V/L Checker Manual. (At this point, Hajime
can use the V/L Checker, and he will become vulnerable to the viruses.)

Face the computer, and Tomowo will panic and run outside like a fool.
Ryo will follow him, trying to stop him.

Check the monitors, choose the security option, and choose the first floor
cameras to see a man entering a passageway inside the main elevator.

Leave the security room and go to the main elevator. Go to the third floor.
(There will be a Movie where an enemy watches the heroes.)

Third Floor:

On the third floor, enter the central office room. Check the supply shelves
twice while facing them to obtain two Eternal S.T.s (medical sprays).

Use the main elevators to reach the fourth floor (which looks a lot like the
 third one).

Fourth Floor:

On the fourth floor, enter the central office room. Check the supply shelves
while facing them to obtain the Medicine Cartridges.

To complete this Chapter, face the supply shelves with these cartridges.
(The heroes must have seen the man on the security cameras first.)
Ryo will enter the room, carrying Tomowo on his back.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.4] Chapter 4: Finding the Secret Door
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Medical Ward:

Go to the first floor, and go through the partially open emergency shutter.
Quickly walk past the dead body, go to the path that cuts through the
middle of the ring-shaped hallway, and open the leftside door to enter
 the medical ward.

Aya, using her syringe, will apply the Medicine Cartridges to everyone
except Ryo, healing Tomowo (for now) and restoring Hajime's health.
(The heroes must have the Medicine Cartridges from the fourth floor.)
Hajime will also obtain the ID Card from Ryo. Check the middle panel
while facing it to obtain the Influenza Vaccine.

Elevator:

Remember that man on the security cameras? Enter the main elevator.
The heroes will now look at a card slot before looking at the usual
 control panel.

To complete this Chapter, use the ID Card while facing the card slot.
The heroes will open a secret door, and when they enter, they will run
away from a release of lethal gas and go down to the laboratory level.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.5] Chapter 5: Finding the Laboratory
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The heroes now find themselves in a room with multiple doors. There is
only one way they can go for now.

To complete this Chapter, enter the double doors to the viral laboratory.
Before the heroes know it, the doors will lock shut, trapping Hajime inside
 the laboratory.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.6] Chapter 6: Exploring the Laboratory
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check the locker to find a safety suit. It has 20 tanks, each with 6 units,
of clean air. It also comes with its own V/L Checker. (At this point, Hajime
will begin using the air. If he runs out, he will die. The air runs out very
quickly, so he should not waste time doing anything that is unnecessary.)

Go down the long corridor to the main research room.

Main Research Room:

There is nothing here that Hajime really needs. He can just hurry to the
short corridor leading to the next room.

Hajime can check the research terminal to learn more about the viruses.

Data 01: Lamia. Paleness and fever. Vaccine is RA-87.
Data 02: Beelzebub. Red spots all over the body. Vaccine is BB-99.
Data 03: Dagon. Black spots. Vaccine is DN-392.
Data 04: Leis. Redness and fever. Vaccine is RS-223.
Data 05: Unknown Strain. Mysterious symptoms. Vaccine is unknown.

Hajime can find virus samples in this room.

Check the cylindrical container closer to the entrance to obtain
the Leis Sample and the Dagon Sample.

Check the cylindrical container farther from the entrance to obtain
the Lamia Sample and the Beelzebub Sample.

Check the centrifuge near the container closer to the entrance to obtain
 the Unknown Virus Sample.

Hajime can look through the microscope to see a virus multiplying.

Small Room:

There is nothing here that Hajime really needs. He can just hurry to the
 next room.

Hajime can look at the monitors here to see some test creatures.

Vaccine Storage Room:

The alcove in this room has two vaccine containers. Hajime must find them.

Check the leftside vaccine container to obtain two RA-87 Vaccines
 and two BB-99 Vaccines.

Check the rightside vaccine container to obtain two RS-223 Vaccines
 and two DN-392 Vaccines.

Data Terminal Room:

The last room contains a data terminal. (Time is stopped while Hajime
 is using this terminal.)

The research folder contains various research files.

Research File 1 - Influenza virus, types 98 and 99.
Research File 2 - Dagon and its symptoms.
Research File 3 - Lamia and its symptoms.
 Attention 1 - Development chart.
Attention 2 - Unknown virus report.

The red lips folder contains bonus information.

Leave the terminal to obtain the Laser System Key.

Leaving the Viral Laboratory:

Now quickly return to the entrance of this laboratory before the
air runs out. Check the locker to take off and return the suit.
Use the Laser System Key on the optical lock to open the doors.

Saving Aya and Tomowo:

Although Hajime has rejoined his friends, Aya and Tomowo are about to die
from the viruses they have caught. Failing to cure either of them will kill
both the victim and Hajime (for some weird-ass reason).

Aya is suffering from Dagon (black spots).
Use the DN-392 Vaccine to cure her.

Tomowo is suffering from Lamia (pale fever spots).
Use the RA-87 Vaccine to cure him.

To complete this Chapter, use the Laser System Key on the lock of the
laser barrier to open it. (This door is labeled "L2.") The heroes will
continue down to the next level.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.7] Chapter 7: Finding the Director
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(In the PS version, switch to the second disc to continue.)

Puzzle Room:

The room contains an odd-looking display. Walk around the display, and check
the panel on the other side to find a 3-by-3 sliding puzzle, with the lower
right piece being removed. Solve this puzzle by properly rearranging the
pieces within one minute (1:00). (To restart, press the Cancel Button.)
After solving this puzzle, the heroes will find another passageway.

Pod Room:

The heroes finally meet the hospital director, who tells them what he is
up to. Apparently, Robert (the assistant) has deliberately caused Ryo's
accident and then put a fake Ryo in his place.

After the heroes are locked in the pods, Hajime will find himself lucky
enough to wake up outside in the room.

To complete this Chapter, open the second pod from the left and rescue Aya.

 (Save Point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.8] Chapter 8: Project MJ
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pod Room:

Walk across the pool, toward the green machine beside the row of pods.
Sense the green machine while facing it from a distance to obtain five
 Genetic Cartridges.

Research Room:

Now open the green doors and enter the room that has a body mounted high
up on a tall structure. The heroes can check the monitors in this room to
 learn more about Project MJ.

To complete this Chapter, sense the body while looking up at it.
After Robert beats the monster who attacks the heroes from the back,
Aya and Hajime will be forced to go down some transport tubes.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.9] Chapter 9: Exploring the Ruins
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ruins:

The heroes arrive at the ruins below the hospital. Apparently, the hospital
has been built to represent these ruins.

With nowhere else to go, Hajime and Aya should follow the path to the ruins.
Inside the ruins, there are several more paths. The two side paths lead to
side chambers, each containing a body. The middle path leads to the exit,
which is locked for now. Ignore the middle path and visit the bodies in
both side rooms. Afterward, return to the central room to see the director.

Facing the middle path that leads to the exit, take the rightside path to
 the rightside chamber.

To complete this Chapter, use a Genetic Cartridge on the body there, rescuing
the true Ryo. The director will also be betrayed and murdered by Robert.

 (Save point.)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[2.A] Chapter 10: Escape
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Train Tunnel:

The heroes now have to find Misato and Tomowo and then escape on the
automatic train that has arrived. While Ryo holds off Robert, Aya and
Hajime will run to the cargo room.

Cargo Room:

Inside the green cargo room, Hajime should open the capsules until he finds
a body. Use the Genetic Cartridges on any of these bodies to rescue Misato
 and Tomowo.

Train Tunnel:

Now head back to the front of the train. Sense the door while facing it from
a distance, and Robert will walk out, having beaten up (but not killed) Ryo.

However, the badass monster from the back will attack, wasting Tomowo and
Robert. The others quickly dash into the train, which departs as a gigantic
boulder rolls up from behind in the tunnel.

Train:

Inside the train, Hajime should look at the monitor to see the boulder
catching up from the back. He must push the lever forward within 10 seconds
to speed up the train, or else everyone will die. (Be sure to press the
Check Button to actually push the lever.)

Hajime should now move toward the back of the train. Along the way, obtain
Robert's Gun from the floor. (There are two rounds left in it.) Hajime can
also check up on Aya and Misato, who are weeping quietly.

When Hajime reaches the back of the train, the monster will catch up
and climb aboard. Hajime should use the Gun against it to knock it away,
 at least for a while.

The monster will return, killing Misato, causing Aya to suffer massive
sanity loss and to faint, and totally kicking Ryo's ass.

To complete this Chapter, use the Influenza Vaccine against the monster,
killing it this time. (Using the Gun a second time will bring ineffective
 if amusing results.)

[5.2] Really Small Details That Keep Bothering Cute Nurses
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All We Have Is Porno, Porno, Porno!
Remember the bunch of "Penthorse" Magazines covering the V/L Checker Manual
at the security room? At least Aya doesn't have anything to do with that.

Super Spray
Exactly how do the Eternal S.T.s (medical sprays) work to completely
neutralize the viruses? Does Hajime shoot them up into his own nose?

Nasty Hands
Time must have run short for the rendering of the cinematics for the final
scenes. The hands of the characters there look unnaturally stiff. Surely
you have noticed this in the scene where Ryo faces Robert and in the scene
where Aya and Misato both cry out in panic when the train violently shakes.
